Description of service
A one-day, four hour course which teaches some fundamental cooking skills, and helps prepare speedy, nutritous family meals.
In four hours, we were given basic lessons on proper use of different knives and kitchen utensils, which I though I knew rather well. It also gave some basic recipes and tips. We then prepared a few meals which we took home with us for our families. I have been cooking for years, and considered myself to be a very good cook, but this class gave me some extra know-how as far as chopping and cutting techniques, and the differences in recipes which call for different ingredients (substitutions, such as margarine for butter and what that will do to the food you cook!) A great course for beginners, or even more advanced cooks who never had any kind of formal training.
Review of Service
I loved this class, and want to take more of them. There are several different types of classes offered, and I chose the one for family cooking, which turned out to be fantastic.
Tips
Wear grubby clothes and comfortable shoes. Also, if your hair is long, be sure to pull it back or pin it up! Also, be prepared to sweat because with several students in the kitchen and ovens and burners constantly aflame, it got HOT!
