Description of service

The cooking class that I attended lasted for two hours and only had a handful of people that attended the class that night. Upon our arrival we were provided with our own table which was similar to a kitchen island and was where we would prepare our food, and we also had been provided with an apron, and benches to sit down on if we so choose to do during the lesson. We were also given the necessary utensils and ingredients for the dishes that we were going to prepare a little later that night. Before we began cooking the food, we listened to the cook for a little while talk to us about safety in the kitchen and we were given an introduction to how to prepare food, which was a bit like Cooking 101. The amount of money that I had paid for the lesson was divided between the use of the materials that were provided to us (table, apron, utensils, etc.), the professional cook's time and knowledge given to us, along with the actual food itself. The price of $399 paid for the whole lesson, and did not require any other expenses such as tips or gratuities.

Review of Service

I was very pleased with the service that I received during the lesson, and felt that I had taken away a lot of knowledge and had also built up my cooking experience quite a bit after the lesson was over. The professional cook that was giving us the lesson did a great job of teaching us how to make each dish, and explained the basics of cooking for beginners attending the lesson very well. The cook was always ready to answer any questions that we had, and was sure to always provide good, well thought out answers to those questions. What I liked most about the cooking lesson was that I learned how to prepare a variety of dishes that were all very novel and unique and would be sure to leave people talking about how the food both looked and tasted. If I were to say what I would have liked to have added to the lesson, I would suggest that the cook teaching us would have recommended some other foods and drinks that would go along well with the meal that you are preparing. Looking back on the lesson though, I believe that I received even more than my money's worth, and would most certainly recommend attending a cooking class to others.

Tips

If I were to offer any tips or advice to any one looking into taking a cooking class, I would suggest doing the following things. First, I would say to ask any questions that come to mind during the lesson because doing so will allow you to become more knowledgeable when it comes to cooking, and will without a doubt make any food that you will prepare much better because you will be absolutely positive that you really do know what you're doing. Second, I would suggest talking about and thinking about ideas that you can do to make the dish that you are making one that is unique to you. For example, asking the cook if a certain ingredient that you could add to the food will improve the dish, or just simply experimenting with the look and design of the food that you are making (especially if you are making a dessert), just to make that dish truly your own. I would also suggest going into the course with a open mind because you never know what you might like until you try it, or what just what you could learn about a particular meal. And lastly, be sure to have fun because cooking is a really a fun experience and one that should be enjoyed.
