Description of service
$18.00 included the cost of entrance into the museum and a guided docent tour by one of the museum staff. For an additional four dollars per person, we could have gotten the earphones that allow you to plug into each exhibit and hear about it.
Review of Service
The service was great. I found that the docent who was working there was a graduate student at one of the universities in Pittsburgh studying art therapy. She was very knowledgeable and was very well spoken. Because it was Andy Warhol, much of the art was very abstract and is difficult to understand at times. The docent pointed out various little nuances that I am sure I would have missed if it has been up to me to find them. I thoroughly enjoyed by experience.
Tips
Go to a museum that you think you will enjoy even without a guided tour. There's no reason not to, really. If you go into it with a negative attitude and don't think you'll enjoy yourself while there, it will not matter how well-informed or pleasant your tour-guide is. He or she will not be able to make you like the things you will see. Also, if you plan on going to a well-known museum (Any one in New York or a big city) I would suggest calling ahead to find out if you can make a tour reservation. There's no worse feeling than expecting a tour, getting there, and realizing they are all booked up.
