the Cost of Museum Tours

My partner and I went to the local museum of art and for $6.00 a person got a guided tour through the whole museum by one of the volunteer tour guides. We started at the lobby and went throughout the entire two story museum, including the outside exhibits and statue garden.

The volunteer tour guide was peppy, cute, and fun. She was not dry and dull like we had feared a museum tour guide would be. She was obviously very excited by her job and by art in general and that really passed onto us and our experience with the tour. She was very knowledgeable, and, although we ourselves did not have any questions, she answered the questions of others in the group with educated ease. I had been to this museum on my own many times without a guide and enjoyed it; however, I would highly recommend getting the guided tour for the reasonable price as you will enjoy it and learn more.

Just do this. If you love art and history and you are not opposed to walking in a crowd at someone else's pace, you will really enjoy the guided tour. The staff is very knowledgeable and the tour moves at a pleasant pace. If you are hard of hearing, try to get to the front of the group, as the tour guides tend to talk softly so as to not bother the other guests.
