Description of service
Some friends were in from out of town and wanted to check out a local museum. My family had been numerous times but knew that our friends were real intellectuals and would want more than a quick perusal through the museum. So we decided to take advantage of one of the museum tours. It was $30 per person for an hour. Children under 12 were free.
Review of Service
This was definitely a good tour. It actually ended up lasting for more than an hour, probably closer to an hour and 20 minutes. The docent was great about answering questions and was even really honest when they didn't know something. I had thought it might be pretty dull, especially for the kids. But the docent was excited and told us such interesting facts that everyone was really interested. We were also given a guidebook that had the notes of everything we were told which was really great to take home and read back over.
Tips
If you get the right docent this is definitely a good idea when visiting a museum for the first time or if you've been to it several times and want to get more out of it. Finding a tour with a book to take home is an added bonus you should look out for.
