Description of service
The price paid was for a guided tour with an employee of the local art museum around the various exhibitions that were currently being housed at the facility in a small group of about fifteen individuals. The tour included traveling around the entire museum, including getting a sneak peek at some of the behind the scenes stuff in the museum and the art that is currently being prepared for exhibition by the museum in the future.
Review of Service
The tour of the museum was really well planned and thought out given the vast amount of material the museum has to offer the visitor. The tour guide was a long time employee of the museum who had experience in the art world going back some years, so the background knowledge that she had about the various pieces on display was interesting and relevant to the actual work instead of just being general information that is read off of a cue card or out of a pamphlet. The tour was paced well and offered enough diversity in the various pieces that were shown that the average person could take it all in and appreciate the works on display without feeling rushed. It was, all in all, a great way to spend an afternoon.
Tips
For anyone looking to take a guided tour in a museum, the biggest key is to get a tour that is going to show the best that the museum has to offer, and not just be a whirlwind tour around the various exhibits. The biggest key to ensuring that you can enjoy the tour, no matter the length, is that the pace of the tour is slow enough to allow you to enjoy the exhibits without taking too much time at each position in the tour.
