Description of service
I had a Dominican blow out at a very unassuming, "hole-in-the-wall" type of hair salon that you find everywhere here in New York. The service included a roller set, blowdry and flat iron and it took about two hours (compared to the six or seven hour wait in some salons).
Review of Service
The service was super quick and super cheap, although back in the day this type of style was done for only ten dollars. The whole thing took about two hours. I left the salon with bouncing and behaving hair and money left over in my wallet. The stylist was friendly and knew what she was doing-- it seemed like she did hundreds of the same style everyday so handling my natural hair was no problem at all.
Tips
If you have very fine sensitive natural hair that is prone to breakage, consider getting the roller set only-- no flat iron and no blowdry. The excessive heat would kill your delicate hair strands. Blowdrying does give your hair a certain swing, so you could do it on occasion, but please don't do it everytime and find yourself bald. If you must have the stylist blowdry, have her do the roots only, to remove the roller marks.
One of the perks is the fantastic moisturizing conditioner that they use. Be sure to pick up a few jars for home use.
