the Price of Piano Lessons

I pay $20 a week for an hour piano class. The class is at an individual's house. The teacher has been playing the piano for over 20 years.

I played the piano when I was a kid but had gotten really rusty. I decided as an adult that I wanted to pick it up again. I found a lady who gives piano lessons out of her home. I tried to explain and show her what I already knew. It got kind of confusing and she decided it made sense to start from scratch so I am doing the beginning program. There is a recital she puts on once a year but as all of the students who are in it tend to be in Jr. High school, or thereabouts, I'd feel a little silly going. The teacher is very patient and good about going at my own pace as my schedule is such that some weeks I have more time to give to practicing than other weeks.

Check out your local newspaper or online forums for individuals who give lessons. These are usually cheaper and offer more flexibility. Piano is something that is best taught in a one-on-one situation.
