Description of service
The piano lesson is a group lesson consisting of 4 kids aged 4 - 6 years old. It is once a week and 30 minutes per section. The classes lasted about four and a half months. The kids have never played any piano before.
Review of Service
The teacher was very good with the kids. As none of the kids played any musical instrument before and all were very young. She started by getting them to play the black keys with their fists up and down the keyboard. She then taught them the number of fingers, the keys and moved on to white keys. At the end of the 4 - 5 months, kids can play some simple tunes wiht hands in the middle C position.
Tips
My son started the class a year ago. I am very impressed with the progress he has made. The teacher really tried to keep the kids interested. As any moms tried to get their young kids to play the piano would know that this is the most important thing in keeping the kids continuing with piano. She did a great job in my view. Even with this, it was hard at the beginning. My son was so eager to play more interesting tunes on day one. Once he found out that he couldn't even do 1,2,3,2,1 nicely with his fingers, he got really frustrated and didn't want to practice. Finally, a combination and curiosity and pride worked. He practiced a little. The teacher was very good at praising him for any progress he made which made him to practice more. The teacher also selected children's songs that he can identify with to make him more interested. Now he can play a dozen tunes such as rainy day, let's boogie and pop goes the weasel.
