Description of service
Group Piano Lessons with 4 other beginner adult students. The students were given homework each week. Homework consisted of learning and practicing songs, practicing warm-ups, and learning elementary music theory. Each week we would practice and perform warm-ups and songs both together and separately. Playing in a group really helped each of us to understand the value of tempo and the art of playing in time and the individual attention we received from the instructor helped us each to develop our own personal style and skill. By performing in front of each other, we were able to get rid of stage fright.
Review of Service
The service was very nice, as each piano player got 1-on-1 time with the instructor and was able to critique and help the other students. We formed a tight-knit group and were able to really help each other advance in our piano-playing. At our recital we played an ensemble piece and each performed our solo songs and it was a very pleasing experience for artists and audience both! The price was very reasonable for the skill I gained.
Tips
Make sure that you practice! There's nothing more embarrassing than not being prepared in a group setting.
Be confident in your own skills- don't learn to rely on your group-mates.
This may not be an effective method for teaching children, as they might learn to play in the style of the others.
