Description of service
I went to the dermatologist in June to see if I had any form of skin cancer. Skin cancer runs in my family and my cousin actually had her skin cancer metastasize into thyroid cancer, which was pretty awful. I have several moles that I started worrying about because they either appeared or changed recently and looked suspicious to me.
The doctor was very old-fashioned, and had a female nurse come in for "propriety." I guess this was because I was undressed and he had to check all over a lot of my body.
Review of Service
The doctor, although seeming old-fashioned, was very nice. I kind of wish he had given me the option to get the moles removed even if they weren't cancerous because some of them are kind of unattractive, but he didn't. He went over each mole with a magnifying glass and checked them carefully. He didn't rush me or make me feel like I was wasting his time, as I have felt at some doctors' offices. He took my concerns seriously and never made me feel silly.
Tips
If the doctor, as rushed as they may be, does not give you his or her full attention, find a new doctor. You should always feel comfortable with your doctor and like you are getting what you pay for.
