Review of Service
The service was okay. I have some funny moles that I have to have checked out periodically because of a malignant mole when I was 18, which was a melanoma in situ (which I suppose is the best kind to have, if you have to have it at all). I received an initial consultation, and that was followed up by shaving of four suspicious-looking moles for biopsy. One came back abnormal, requiring complete extraction and stitches. I was never really told what exactly it meant that the mole was abnormal, or if I should be worried about any others on my body. I got something in the mail several weeks after the mole was removed to tell me it was another melanoma in situ, which had me concerned that I didn't receive a phone call at least from the doctor. Kind of scary to think that if I had waited any longer, it could have become more serious, but I didn't hear from a doctor for any kind of reassurance.
Tips
Take advantage of yearly screenings if you are someone who has a history of skin cancer or abnormal moles. It doesn't cost a whole lot, and could actually save your life. Ask a lot of questions if you don't understand a diagnosis, or a near-diagnosis. If you are having something removed, prepare for it to kind of hurt afterwards--I was told it would be uncomfortable, but it really hurt! The shaves were uncomfortable, too, as it consisted of a razor-blade cutting out a portion of the mole, and then it was cauterized right there on the spot. It was smelly, and it kind of hurt afterwards as well.
