Description of service
My husband and I pay $250 for each visit to the dermatologist. This is the doctor's visit fee and does not include the cost of medication - which is covered by insurance - and procedures - which are sometimes covered by insurance and sometimes not. The $250 includes the check up and discussion with the nurse and the 15-20 minute consultation with the doctor. This price also incudes a month later follow up visit if you are receiving a new prescription.
Review of Service
Our dermatologist is fantastic. I began seeing him when I was expecting my first child and the influx of hormones caused my face to break out similar to the break outs I suffered as a teenager. He is so kind and considerate and really listens to what you have to say about your skin issues. He discusses possible treatment options with you and goes in depth to explain how each works, what possible side effects there could be, etc. While he obviously makes the final decision, it is great to feel as if you have had some say in your own treatment plan. He is also great in that he is available to his patients whenever they need them. He let me bring my son, who is not his patient, in with me earlier this year when he had a strange rash, diagnosed it and didn't charge me at all!
Tips
Take the time to find someone you trust. While all doctors are important, obviously, a dermatologist is handling your skin, which is out there for the whole world to see. It is also a problem a lot of people feel uncomfortable discussing, so make sure you find a dermatologists you can talk to honestly and openly!
