Description of service
Dermatologist removed basal cell skin cancer on face (non-metastasizing). There was a follow up visit to remove stitches and the recommendation for periodic checkups to make sure there are no more skin cancers.
Review of Service
The dermatologist made sure to do the surgery so that the scar from it would be hidden in a normal forehead wrinkle. All personnel in that office are pleasant people to deal with. This surgery was painful during the process of injecting the anesthesia because of the thinness of the skin and muscles on the forehead. Other than that, the surgery was painless. The wound healed well in the following weeks. Six months later, it is almost impossible to see the scar because of how carefully the dermatologist did the procedure.
Tips
Our insurance didn't pay for this surgery (because of a transition) so the doctor's office wrote off probably half of the cost. The reason they did this is that we have built a relationship with them. It is important to build relationships with doctors so that when you need a service but there is an insurance problem you don't have to go to someone you don't know or trust. Also, the referral to this doctor came from someone we trust. We have referred other people to this doctor because of the high quality of his service.
