the Price of a Smog Check

I recently purchased a used vehicle from another party. Having had a bad and expensive episode in the past, before I had the vehicle emissioned I elected to pay for a smog check at one of our local, national repair outlets.

Vehicle emissions has always been a sore spot with me. Not only is it inconvenient time wise the cost and possible repair cost seems excessive. With this new vehicle I set up an appointment at a local repair center. i dropped the vehicle off early in the morning with the promise that the evaluation would be completed by the time I picked up the vehicle in the evening. I know that if a vehicle fails emissions than the cost of repair is mandated by my state. It can be as much as $400.00 and all repairs need to be documented and signed off by a local mechanic. I thought this service price of $89 was well within reason to prevent an additional emission cost in the future. The service writer went over every thing that I can expect when I dropped the vehicle off. They were very informative and all of the diagnosis that was included was documented and provided to me at delivery. I would totally recommend this type of evaluation when anyone purchases a used vehicle before you take it for emissions control.

It always a good idea to inquire with several outlets before you commit. The prices vary accordingly.
