The service was an annual smog check. The car is driven to a service location where a service representative checks the car's smog output to make sure it is within acceptable levels. The test includes checking the pressure on the gas cap to make sure it closes effectively. The gas cap check makes sure the gas cap is closing properly and not allowing any gas to evaporate into the atmosphere. These services are something that can only be done by the servicer.

The service was acceptable. The test is pretty much self explanatory and I have done the test before so knew exactly what had to be done. The representative may not have been the most polite person but he did his job effectively and quickly. I give the servicer poor marks for politeness but good marks for working hard.

There are quite a few places to have smog checked. The easiest method to find a good smog checker is to ask your neighbors to find out where they go. The next place to check is the internet. Find the servicer's web site and find out the services included. Most important, be sure to get a receipt and copy of results.
