Description of service
I got the state-mandated annual smog check that you need in Nevada prior to renewing your vehicle registration. The attendant asked if I had a coupon; I did not. He scanned one that they had on-site and reduced the price from $22.99 to $16.99, for a savings of six dollars. The smog check was quick and the car passed. I tipped the attendant $3.
Review of Service
I was very pleased with the service I received at this provider. The attendant gave me a $6 credit for a coupon that I did not have. The service was prompt - it took maybe two minutes tops, quick in and quick out. The gentleman was very friendly and professional and answered all the questions that I had about the service. Granted, I didn't have a whole lot, but it's interesting to note that your air conditioning doesn't make a difference in how the test goes. You would have thought for certain that it would. I was in and out in moments, and they open early, making it especially convenient to stop in before work.
Tips
Seek out coupons. Smog checks are a commodity, so price and convenience are the only criteria that you should be considering. Coupons for smog checks are everywhere, especially for certain west coast gas station chains. Paying retail is for suckers - in 2009 more than ever. If you can't find a coupon, ask the attendant if they have any special offers. You may find yourself with a deal like mine. Remember, especially in a service industry town, money talks and gratuities speak loudly.
