Description of service
Smog testing of road-worthy vehicles to be certain EPA emissions meet EPA standards, as well as to test road-worthiness of some questionable vehicles.
Review of Service
The service was terrible. I was there with my then 1-year-old baby and my 4-year-old son. The process only takes a few minutes per vehicle, but there were about ten vehicles ahead of me, and only one working lane, even though there were five available lanes. People are sequestered into a tiny hallway with plexiglass in front to watch as vehicles are smog tested, but there is no communication with the testers whatsoever. It is loud and dirty, and there is no radio or television, so you are stuck sitting on uncomfortable, dirty plastic chairs with nothing to do or to entertain people waiting. It ended up taking just shy of two hours, and it was the longest two hours of my life! I won't look forward to having this done again in a year and a half.
Tips
Call several locations to see if there is more than one lane operating. Find out, if you can, if there is an anticipated wait time, and what the best time of day to come in would be so you aren't stuck waiting for a very long time. Ask if there are places they recommend for vehicle repairs should your vehicle not pass the smog testing, and what kinds of things they are looking for.
