Description of service
My refrigerator was making inappropriate noises and I knew it wasn't good. It was four years old, so I knew I didn't need to replace it yet. I couldn't find anyone I knew to get a recommendation, so I used the yellow pages. Bad mistake! I needed someone in a hurry because it was four days before Christmas. I used a "guaranteed service within 24 hours". They didn't show up for the first appointment and I had to call and reschedule. They were 1/2 day late for the second appointment, but they did finally show up.
Review of Service
The man that came smelled of grease and alcohol. He set his toolbox down on my counter and left a grease stain that I had a hard time getting off. After all the waiting, he said it needed a part that, of course, he didn't have. They had to order it and it would take a day to get it - well, that day was Christmas Eve so they couldn't come back until the day after Christmas. The noise had gotten worse and the inside of the fridge was getting warmer, so I couldn't trust it. I bought cheap styrofoam coolers and took the frozen stuff to a neighbor.
They didn't return until two days after Christmas and it wasn't the right part.
Finally after 11 days, my refrigerator was fixed.
Tips
Even if you can't get a recommendation from someone you know, ask the company for references you can call or check the Better Business Bureau.
If possible, have a back-up plan if it takes longer than it should
