Description of service
Our refrigerator suddenly stopped working right around dinner time and we had no idea what to do. We called the manufacturer and they directed us to a local appliance repair company that came out the next morning to look at our refrigerator. It turned out to be a blown fuse in the motor or something like that. The fuse itself was only $14 but the service visit cost $90 and he was done in about 15 minutes. That sounds expensive but losing all the food would have cost much more and he was able to come out the next day, so it was worth it.
Review of Service
I didn't know anything about refrigerators before this, but there are coils in the front that need to be regularly vacuumed if you have a lot of dust or pet hair in the house. The coils get clogged and then burn out the motor because it has to work too hard to run the refrigerator. The repairman was pleasant as he explained this to us and said that he'd seen it happen many times which made me feel better. He arrived on time and it was a very short visit because he only had to slide the refrigerator out and take off the back plate to replace the part. As I said earlier, because he came out so quickly I feel it was a fair price for this service.
Tips
Just make sure to clean under your refrigerator and vacuum those coils regularly if you have a dog or cat that sheds.
