Description of service
Repair needed on refrigerator door water and ice makers. New ice maker had to be bought and installed. Hook ups needed to be made for just the back of the refrigerator. The water hook up to the refrigerator was usable. Ice maker cost was $78 and labor cost was $150. We did tip him $25 because we knew the serviceman.
Review of Service
Water and ice maker now work great. You really don't know how much you miss these items, until they are broken. The biggest obstacle for this project was to find the right ice maker to fit the refrigerator, because the refrigerator is somewhat an older model. It only took a few moments to remove the old ice maker and replace the new one. Also, hooking up the water and ice maker to the front of the refrigerator door only took about 20 minutes. We may have been able to have replaced the ice maker by ourselves, but I doubt we would have gotten the hookups to the refrigerator door correct. He did an excellent job and did not leave any mess at all.
Tips
When having your refrigerator serviced, it is best to go to a local company that deals with many brands of refrigerators. This way, the parts can be ordered that you will need to fit your broken parts.
