the Price of Youth Football

Youth Football is a local organization that puts together football teams for kids that are too young to participate in school football, which in our area starts in 7th grade. They take sign ups and put together the teams from all the kids that want to participate. There is no try out, everyone plays. Of course, the better players play more, but still it is an opportunity for all kids to participate. The cost includes the coaching and practicing time, the game officials and team jerseys. You still purchase your own helmet, cleats, pads etc. There is also quite a bit of fund raising that each player has to do. This is a pretty expensive sport, so the fees don't cover everything.

This is a really great way for kids to get started in football. It is an organization that really stresses sportsmanship and team work. The coaches do a good job with the kids and the natural talent can really shine through. We have had great experiences with each team we have been with. It is a long season, but the kids get into good shape. They do a good job of teaching the kids about being healthy and hydrated and working hard, but being safe and taking care of your body.

You can often buy equipment from former players that have outgrown it. We have a for sale/wanted board that facilitates this exchange of equipment and it helps keep costs lower for the extra stuff you need.
