Description of service
My son has played on Youth Football teams a few times. It is a team environment with coaches that teach teamwork and the fundamentals of the sport. The first couple of weeks, they practice daily (since it starts in the summer) and they really focus on getting in top shape for endurance and strength. It is really hard work to get started, so they better really like football. Once the games start, the practices go down to 2 a week, and one game each weekend. There is some travel involved, depending on your league and your area. The cost includes the jersey and pants but most kids purchase a team helmet and some of the pads etc for an additional fee.
Review of Service
There is really nothing that compares to the service you get. These are all volunteer coaches and parents that enjoy helping out. The kids learn the fundamentals of the game and the skills they need to play. They develop a sense of the team and sportsmanship. We have had very good experience with the program and have been pleased with the knowledge gained and the strength and endurance our son developed over the course of the season.
Tips
Football is a contact sport, so make sure your son is in good shape and knows how to be safe. Keep them drinking plenty of fluids and getting extra rest in the beginning.
