Description of service
Parents sign up their boys to play football on a team a few months before the season starts. The organization divides the kids into teams according to their ages and the number of coaches they have volunteering that season. They set up practice days and work on skills and the rules of the game. Each coach teaches his team simple plays (or more complex depending on the level of the players he has) and they work on the basic skills and endurance needed for the game. Usually a team will have 7-8 games, one per week. Kids are given positions and assignments according to their progress and development. Some kids play much more than others, but they make an effort to let everybody play. Uniforms are provided. Kids buy their own helmet, cleats and specialized equipment.
Review of Service
This is a good way for boys to learn the sport of football and to find out if it is an enjoyable sport for them. It is not for everybody and a season of youth football will give the child and parents a good idea of what is involved. The coaches are usually pretty good - but they are volunteers. They have some training in how to lead a team during the "pre-seasson" and they all do their best.
Tips
Since kids outgrow cleats in a single season, we have an equipment swap early on each year, and you can get some great gear that way.
