Description of service
The local community pairs up kids and coaches for the various age groups. The coaches are usually a couple dads of kids on the team. The teach them the skills needed for football at the youth league level and they work on strength and endurance. They meet about 4 days a week prior to the start of games for practices, then they start having games - usually one game a week. The older ages have to travel some to different communities because the sheer number of kids needed for one team, makes it hard for one community to have more than a couple of teams to play.
Review of Service
The teams are as good as the coaching. Overall this is a pretty good system, but sometimes the coaches are more interested in winning and don't play the kids fairly. Most of the coaches are good guys interested in teaching the kids the basic skills and to be good sports and get stronger. The teams stay together year after year - some kids drop, but new ones take their place. It is a great way to build friendships within the community and a good way to get an introduction into team sports. The boys have enjoyed this sport immensely.
Tips
Try to request a coach known for his way with the kids. Also keeping kids with their friends will help your carpool options!
