Description of service
The local youth football league offers both flag and tackle football team seasons that are based on the age of the kids. We signed my son up for the flag-football program and the cost included one practice per week, one game per week for 10 weeks, a playoff weekend, and a jersey with the team name on it that my son could keep after the season was over. He also received a certificate of participation.
Review of Service
The youth football league was very well organized and our team had an experienced head coach who also coached a team of younger kids. There were also three assistant coaches who were parents of the kids on the team and they assisted with the weekly practices and handled different aspects during the games. The games all took play on Saturday so that families could attend, and it was a good experience for my 8-year-old son. He learned about the game but also about teamwork and being part of a group. It was not too much pressure and it was competitive but not to the point of winning being the only goal. I was pleased with the coaching, the games, the interest level of the kids, and my son's excitement for the practices and games. It was a reasonable price for the organized activities and we hope to participate again next year.
Tips
Flag football is a good starting place for kids so that they can learn the rules of the game and be part of a team environment. Look for a league where all the kids get to play in all of the games, so everyone remains involved and gets to enjoy the experience.
