the Price of Music Lessons

I was given 2 separate lessons a week by the same instructor. On Tuesdays we practiced the piano for one hour and on Thursdays she gave me voice lessons that were also one hour. She charged me $45 per lesson including tax. She collected at the beginning of every week. I gave her $100 before each Tuesday lesson. I tipped her $10 dollars a week and she usually let the lessons carry over a few minutes.

I was very happy with the service. I feel I more than got what I payed for. My instructor was very nice and knowledgeable. She even did a report of my progress every two weeks. I feel her prices were fair and a good deal. My only problem was her schedule. It was very hard to find times that worked for both of us when I first signed up. But she worked with me and we figured something out.

I did not shop around before I got my instructor. I just heard of her by word of mouth. Since then I have heard of people paying much more for lessons. I think I got lucky. I would definitely suggest shopping around. As much as I feel you get what you pay for I also feel there is no reason to over pay.
