Description of service
While I was attending college in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania music lessons were offered as part of the curriculum, for an additional fee. It included no materials except what the professor provided (copies from music books, etc). I had already purchased a bass guitar and amp, so I really didn't need much more than that. Each lesson was approximately 30-45 minutes, once a week for approximately 6 months. The price was somewhat cheaper than the lessons I took in high school which averaged about 25$ a week.
Review of Service
The teacher was excellent - he was a member of all of the college string and band ensembles. He also was very good at teaching, and helping me to understand the basics of music theory. I left the class feeling a bit more confident in my playing abilities, and I can't really ask for much more than that. I do wish that there had been some more formalized teaching structure though, I would have liked to have more of a book to follow than just a manila folder full of copies.
Tips
First, make sure you actually need to go to lessons. There are a ton of lessons and tabs available for free on the internet. I would only recommend lessons if you know you need a teacher to really understand material. This comes down to personal learning style.
