Lessons and understanding of music, emphasizing learning to read music, as well as follow along to sheet music instrumentally via recorder, clapping, or piano basics.
Review of Service
This was a great class to take. It lasted eight weeks, and met twice a week, and was a great beginner class for people looking to learn about music in the first place, or people who used to be musically involved in the past and who need a refresher course. I was active in music and band when I was in grade school, and over the past twenty years have forgotten how to read and play music. It was a perfect refresher course, though I am not sure I will be breaking out my flute or sax anytime in the near future! We were instructed through use of a recorder (just like third grade!), to learn the basics, timing, and how to finger the specific notes displayed on sheet music. It was a lot of fun, but certainly won't be producing any musical prodigies--mostly designed as a fun diversion for adults, or the basics for kids.
Tips
Don't expect to come out of a beginning class like this able to play a concerto on the piano. It will give the very basics of 4:4 timing, and how to understand sheet music written on a treble cleff, but not much more than that.
