Description of service
The services I paid for was for my son to be part of a the local team in a co-ed league of eight little league teams total. The season was for two months over the summer, which included 28 games (14 a month, 3 a week or so). The games were usually on weekends or weeknights with weekly practices on Saturday mornings. The league did not have playoffs or a championship, yet were officiated by high school baseball players. This was parent pitch only when teams could not field a pitcher.
Review of Service
This little league was great for keeping my son active during the summer months. I found that, with more games than practices each week, he was looking forward to being a part of the team and learning through actual play. In fact, with optional practices, it was more up to the kids and myself as a parent to foster interest in the game, but it helped my son learn about team effort. He enjoyed playing the games because others took interest in it, and they had a supportive coach. It was wonderful to take some time off and just watch my son play, because no one would really care about who had the better record at the end of the season. This made for a relaxed atmosphere, which helped the kids care less about the scoreboard and more about the game and how to catch/bat and other fundamentals.
Tips
I highly recommend a service like this, because it helps a child get interested in sports, which can help with their fitness level and their ability to make friends with others. I would suggest signing your child up in a league where his friends are into it, which would give them a few familiar faces should they get worried, but they would also team up with other kids. Team sports can help put a little structure in a child's life and a more relaxed setting, like little league, can inspire them to pick up this sport or other sports.
