Description of service
Your child signs up and pays the fee and everyone is put on a team. In our area they try to even out the talent, so the teams will be fairly equal. As they get older, they try out and get placed on teams according to ability. You get several weeks of practices and then the games start. There are always games on Saturday and usually one or two on weekdays. Your price includes the jersey and pants issued, but you return them at the end of the season. It also includes the team hat, which you get to keep. They use the money to pay the umpires and upkeep on the fields. The coaches are unpaid volunteers.
Review of Service
This is a wonderful program where kids learn the fundamentals of baseball and team building. It is a great way to demonstrate discipline and flexibility. The coaches really end up putting in a lot of time and energy working with a team and they do a good job. The value depends almost entirely on the coaches working with your kids. Most are really great people with some knowledge to share and love working with kids. Some are not the greatest, but there is a life lesson for you child in that case too. It is a time honored and great program.
Tips
Sign up early if possible. If you miss the deadline, you will pay more. And there is the possibility that there will not be enough space left.
