Description of service
Little League is a great organization that provides the framework for your child to play baseball and really learn the skills. They set up teams and train the coaches. They also hire umpires. You check out the uniform for the season, but you get to keep your hat. For around three months your child will practice and play baseball, learning the skills and strategy of the game. Everyone does not have equal playing time, but they do have rules to make sure that everyone gets to play. Depending on the age group, you may travel to nearby fields and play teams from other areas. If you don't have insurance, you will have to pay for a short term accidental policy to cover injuries.
Review of Service
This is a very reasonably priced sport. It is a lot of money to the family, especially if you have a couple kids involved in Little League. However, when you think about the costs for the organization, uniforms, field maintenance, insurance, umpires and other fees, it comes out pretty good for each player. The coaches we have had have been really great. It is the kind of thing, where you take what you get and hope for the best. But We've always been impressed with the level of skill our coaches have had. Teams try to stay together from year to year, and that has been a good thing for us as well.
Tips
If you can get your company (or another local company) to donate some money to sponsor your team, it can help offset the cost of new uniforms or equipment. Plus it gets the company some advertising!
