Description of service
We paid for a season of baseball for our son. The organization provides coaches, an umpire for games and use of the team uniform. We paid extra for team pictures, end of the season trophies and party and a special gift to honor the 3 coaches for all their hard work. The coaches volunteer their time. They attend meetings for selecting the team players as well as choosing practice times etc. Then they coach for 3 practices a week and when games start, there are one or two games a week and usually another practice if it can fit into the schedule of the field. It is a very busy season, and although the coaches are volunteers, our kids have always learned and improved. If your player is good, they may be asked to try out for the All Star team, which is no extra cost.
Review of Service
Our kids learn a lot about baseball and being part of a team. We have done little league for a number of years, and good teams or bad teams, our kids have grown and developed as players and team members. The Coaches do a good job, especially for no pay and only a little training. Of course the years they win are the most fun for everyone.
Tips
Try to request a coach you know will work well with your child. I do not look for a coach that always wins - sometimes those coaches are too competitive and place undue pressure on the kids to be better than their skills. I look for a coach that likes kids and loves baseball and is above all a good role model, win or lose. That is one of the greatest gifts a coach can give his team, good sportsmanship.
