Description of service
Little League baseball (for this area) runs from April to early June. The kids particpate in practice, at least 15 games (varies by team and player), fund raising, and community events. For this area you are usually requried to participate in the fund raising events or your child wont be able to play in the games or particpate in practice. Uniforms are included in the price of registration.
Review of Service
Although some may see the price as steep, it is worth it to many families, myself included. I have never had a problem with other children, parents, or coaches. My son loves to play and practice (even though he isn't very good) because he gets to spend time with other kids his age having fun. There isn't a huge amount of pressure put on hitting the ball and getting points. Teamwork is the main focus with emphasis on supporting your team mates and being a good sport about the game.
Tips
Most areas start sign ups in February, if you don't get to sign up right away, don't fret. Most places continue to sign up until the first practice in April as long as there is room on the teams still. If one section is full, move on to another area and inquire if they are any spots left. If you can't afford the registration, there is normally a sponsership program. I don't know a lot about it, but make sure to ask instead of missing out on the experience. It is useful (and important) to have your child practice when at home as well. Make sure you can devote the time needed to practice and games (sometimes several nights each week) before signing up.
