Description of service
We took the car in for new tires. The services we chose were tire installation, a computerized wheel balance and a computerized wheel alignment.
Review of Service
Service to me begins with how you are treated when you arrive, and even though there was a crowded lobby, I was acknowledged immediately, told someone would be with me in a couple of minutes and told to get some coffee or a drink while I was waiting if I would like to. Then when I got to speak to a counter person they were very knowledgeable about the tires and the services. The difference in ride comfort, noise and traction between competing tires was explained to me in a way that gave the good points of each tire so I could choose what I most wanted. Then they explained the benefits of filling the tires with nitrogen, which is something I would suggest to anyone. The ride is smoother and your tires last longer. Next they explained the benefits of their wheel balancing system as well as their alignment system, and never did they put any pressure on me to buy what I did not want. Finally, after all the work was agreed on, they gave me a time estimate. Then they called me nearly 30 minutes before the work was supposed to finished, to tell me they were done and I could pick up my car. When I picked up my car it was probably cleaner then it was when I left it with them. There was no trace of grease or work having been done other than shiny new tires and a really nice ride on my car. The service was extremely good and the prices I felt were fair for all that was done.
Tips
Call first. If they won't be helpful over the phone it probably won't be a good experience in person. It is good to go into a tire installation knowing all you can about tires and what types of tires are best for your particular vehicle. Learn a little bit about wheel balancing and alignment procedures on line so you know if what they are offering is worth the money. There are different levels of computerized alignments. Many will align your wheels and they will stay that way for a few months. The better systems will keep your wheels in alignment for up to a year if you do not hit to many potholes. The benefit of a good alignment is better handling and better tire life and even wear. Do not have your tires installed without a computer wheel balancing. It improves the ride, the handling and the tire wear.
