Description of service
Two flat tires were replaced with two new, mid-grade tires. They were then aligned to provide a balanced ride with the remaining two tires that were not flat.
Review of Service
Two flat tires on the same side of the car were replaced with mid-range quality tires. The tires put in place were $69 each, for a total $148 in tires, with an additional 40 dollars for labor, sales tax and tire disposal fees. The car tire alignment was considered free with the purchase of the tires because the total cost of the tires was over $100.
Tips
Do not get all weather tires unless you live in a very wet or snowy environment.
If the tires were recently purchased, ask about a warranty repair before paying for tire replacement.
Avoid used tires; they have little life left. The only exception is getting a working tire on the car so that you can get to your destination.
Ask about whether or not the tire alignment can be free with the purchase of the tires. If so, this can save the $20 cost of alignment.
Some jurisdictions charge sales tax on materials but not labor. Find out if this applies to the parts and labor of the car repair; if this rule applies, make sure you are only charged sales tax on the tires and not the installation labor. This could save $5-25 on the work, depending on your tax rate.
