Description of service
The price covered three one-hour classes a week for one semester. Materials including paper and drawing implements were extra.
The school offered a variety of arts classes from painting and pottery to metal sculpture and printmaking. Prices were $45 per credit hour with most classes being 3 credit hours. Materials are provided for some classes, but require an additional fee.
Review of Service
I didn't learn much. Mostly it was a place for a few students to show off their well-practiced drawing skills and get praise for their efforts, in spite of the fact that it was billed as an "introductory" class.
We did spend a fair bit of time on different subjects and there was some general coverage of the fundamentals, but we mediocre students didn't get much feedback on our efforts.
Tips
I'm becoming more convinced art classes are scams. Either you're practiced and experienced and don't really need them, but take them anyway for the praise; or you have no experience and are looking for some instruction, but you get to be instructed by the same people who were naturally good at it and so don't really know how to teach the material. Maybe it's different at more advanced levels, but I doubt it.
