Description of service
The price included all supplies to make two paper lanterns--one for a candle votive and one to hang. The class lasted two hours. We were taught how to use Color Wash and how to iron paper and then put it all together into the lanterns. No experience was necessary.
Review of Service
I am a huge fan of Japanese artwork and decoration and that is why I took this class. I loved it. We worked with rice paper and that was really neat. I came away with a purple votive lantern and a white hanging lantern for my time and money and felt that was a good deal. I would recommend this class to anyone. It can be a bit tedious to work with the paper, as its thin and tears easily, but the outcome is worth the trouble.
Tips
Due to the paper being thin, take your time working with it and do not rush yourself. It is tedious work, but fun once you know how to work with the paper and are on your way. I was shocked by how long it took to make each lantern, but the two hour class was long enough to not feel hurried. Be creative too. I only used solid colors, but you can also stencil and use multiple colors. Its really fun!
