Description of service
I think more people should be aware of the Child Health Plus and Medicaid availability in NYS. If you are eligible for these programs, child care is generally free, including all vaccinations, and emergency visits. My son is almost 3 now, but without the help from Child Health Plus, he would not have received any of his vaccinations. I also know that many Pediatricians who have patients that are not eligible for government health insurance will help them with low cost/no cost or payment plans. I took my child for a well child check up and it was free.
Review of Service
My son's pediatrician is a wonderful doctor. Not only does his office take all different insurance types, but they also have low cost/no cost and payment plans for low-income families. Their goal is to have every child immunized and healthy, regardless of the parents income or financial situation. I'm very proud to be a parent using Child Health Plus, I only wish that more people knew it was available, even if you are working.
Tips
Go to your local government agency, and check their guidelines for income requirements. If you don't qualify, don't be afraid to call your pediatrician's office and find out what other options are available to you. Many doctors offices that don't offer these programs can direct you to offices who do. Also, even if you are not eligible for no cost health care, there are many other programs with pay downs and higher income limitations.
