Description of service
Rear Bumper was damaged as a result of a collision. Materials Consumed around $330, service was around $160 and taxes and a small tip up to $40. Service included patching of bumper and painting it over. Initially they asked for 3 days to repair it, but took up to 5 business days.
Review of Service
Bumper was like new. COuld not tell difference, although paint seemed a little different color at night. Maybe a poor color match. First offer was to buy a new bumper, but it was costly and besides buying it you also have to spend on installation and painting. Therefore I pushed on for repair and bargained on it.
Tips
When you get a damaged bumper, mostly they try to sell you a new one and avoid repairing it. If it is not severly damaged always try to push on for repairing it due to the fact that it costs much less. Imperfections on bumpers are noticed a lot less than on doors and roof(due to viewing angle) and they are more flexible in repairing (especially plastic based bumpers). Also always take a close look after they are done with repairing, sometimes lazy or dishonest repairmen leave the lower and inside parts cracked/unfixed. Try moving bumper with your hand, shake it, it should be firmly fixed and not move in any direction, maybe only bend a little. Be wise with your money, you work for it!
