Description of service
The trip took you through the old logging town of Spruce, WV along the banks of the Cheat and Big Cut rivers. Its all located in the mountains of West Virginia and the trains themselves are old steam engine run. The trains are all from the early 1920's and have been fully restored.
Review of Service
It was a bumpy but gorgeous ride. I am a history buff, so I loved it. The tour guide spoke over the PA system and told us what we were passing on the trip and the history of the area. They also told us the history of the trains and town. It was so much fun. We went on a spring weekend, so the rate was a bit higher. It was also a full house. The seating is first come first served and they do sell out quickly. I would recommend it to anyone who likes history and especially to anyone who is from West Virginia originally, as the scenery and history will really connect with you as it did me.
Tips
If you go in the spring or fall, bring a jacket. This is in the mountains so its a lot cooler than the valley. I also recommend getting your tickets in advance or getting there right when they open so that you are guaranteed a seat and can get a good seat once boarded. On the weekends, there is also a lot of children, so keep that in mind.
