Description of service
This was a two hour New England Foliage train tour in New Hampshire at the peak of the "leaf peeping" season. The cost included the train ride (complete with requisite narration). Snacks and drinks cost extra but were reasonably priced, if I recall correctly.
Review of Service
This was a very good deal. We took the shortest and least expensive tour and immediately regretted that we had not chosen the four hour or even the full day long ride instead. The views were gorgeous, the train was quite comfortable, the train staff was great and everyone on board seemed to be having a wonderful time. It was definitely a family friendly event and there were many excited kids as well as lots of retirees. The crowds might not be for everyone, but for us, it added to the fun.
Tips
Make reservations in advance! Foliage season in New England can be absolutely nuts.
Don't skimp and take the shortest tour. If it is a good year for foliage and you have a beautiful day, a two hour tour will feel much too short.
Use the bathroom at the station before you leave!
If you are taking a short ride and you don't want to pay for snacks, eat something before you go.
