Description of service
The train took us on a tour of Grapevine, Texas and Fort Worth, Texas. It was taken to the historic Fort Worth Stockyards to watch the livestock show, then taken back to Grapevine as the way back home.
The cost was $10 per adult, with 2 young children who were free.
The train station in Grapevine is a tourist attraction only. Once you get to Grapevine, there is no bus service or train connections to Dallas. Nor does the train stop at some of the attractions in Grapevine like Great Wolf Lodge, Grapevine Oprey, Gaylord Texan, Grapevine Mills Mall or even some of the Grapevine Vineyards for which the town is named. The train is thus an entertaining way to get to and from the Fort Worth Stockyards, but do not take it unless you have a car parked in Grapevine.
If the stock show or rodeo is going on during the week, this is a scenic way to get there.
Review of Service
The train is a fascinating vintage train. It is $10 per adult on week days, $20 per adult on week ends. Suitable for young children and older adults. Ample parking, with modest shopping around the boarding area. Links to major transit hubs at the Fort Wort Stockyards. Trip is about an hour each way.
Tips
Avoid weekend trips, due to the cost.
You can take a round trip for entertainment, with even the occasional option to have dinner on the train.
