Description of service
The $115,000 price tag includes 4 years of in state tuition for dental school. Included in this fee were 181 credit hours of classes, instrument rental fees, and clinic privileges for the four years. During the last two years of the program patient treatment was a large component of the education and use of the clinic facilities, instructor salaries and dental lab usage was also included in this fee. Finally, as part of the education students were required to complete 4 weeks community outreach in which they provided care to undeserved patient populations throughout Michigan. During these rotations a car, gas money and hotel costs were covered by the university
Review of Service
I believe the education I received was very good. The classes I attended were challenging and for the most part, were relevant to the education of a dentist. I especially enjoyed the classes on physiology, dental materials and oral surgery. Throughout the curriculum there were several classes the taught the same material making the second class on a particular subject repetitive. Also there were not many elective classes to choose from which would have been nice during the final two years of eduction so students could learn more about a particular specialty area in dentistry in which they were interested
Tips
For anyone also looking to become a dentist I suggest applying to 5-10 schools based on location and information you are able to find on the school's web sight. After attending interviews at several schools I suggest making a decision based on what school you feel best suits your needs and educational goals. You need to chooses a school where you feel you can learn the most and where you feel the environment is most conducive to you learning a lot
