Description of service
I took a comprehensive class to learn how to bartend. It included a lecture class, hands on class and real life experience. It lasted 6 months.
Review of Service
I decided to change careers and become a bartender. I found a lot of different bartending schools available. I decided on the most expensive one because it had the best overall program.
For the first 4 months we met twice a week for 2 hours. One glass was a lecture where we learned about the history of different liquors and the chemistry of mixing them. The other night we met we did hands on mixing. We worked with every drink imaginable, from cocktails to daquiris to more exotic stuff.
After the 4 months were over, we went to an apprenticeship roll. We each worked in a different local bar one on one with the bartender. That was incredibly useful not only to teach us but also so that we would have some practical experience for when we graduated.
The school had a really great program for helping us find jobs once we were done, I was working within a week.
Tips
You should be willing to pay more for better training, as you're trying to start a whole new career and it'll be worth it in the long run.
