As I was having a transitional period in my career, I decided to seek out some career coaching. I went to a career training seminar in Chicago, IL, to help me get a leg up on my competition in my field. $400 is a lot to pay, especially when looking for a job! However, I was given valuable career coaching, resume assistance, and networking opportunities for my $400.
Review of Service
I arrived in Chicago for the 2-day seminar, and was met at the airport and transported to the site. There, we had several networking events, and several high-quality resume building seminars. My resume was gone over by a professional resume writer, and critiqued to be the best it could be. I was also given multiple networking events where I was able to place my card and resume in the hands of top recruiters actively looking for freelance workers. As a result, I landed three lucrative contracts -- which more than paid back the $400 fee for this career training!
Tips
First, come prepared. Know what you want, and ask questions about how specifically the career training path will make this happen for you. Also, when you do go to your training, remember to have resumes and cards handy -- you never know who you'll run into!
