Description of service
Our check engine light recently came on. We took it to the local auto parts shop where they did a free daignostic of the check engine light. They told us it had to do with the fuel line. We then took it to our mechanic where they had to smoke the fuel line to check if there were any leaks. From there they could diagnose the problem. They ended up finding that the fuel filter was faulty and needed to be replaced.
Review of Service
The mechanic was knowledgable and informative. They handled my car with great care and were always keeping me informed of the status of the repair. Only problem we had was that when they ordered the fuel filter, they received the wrong one and had to re-order the part. Mean while the correct part was in town the entire time and the length of the reapir would have been significantly decreased. Aside from the extended time frame of the repair everything was professional.
Tips
I would suggest always visiting your local auto parts store to get an idea of what is causing the problem with your vehicle. They can usually diagnose it for you which will allow you to determine if you need repairs or not. Most mechanics charge a diagnostic fee which you can avoid by visiting the auto parts store. Some check engine lights come on for simple things such as your gas cap not being on too tight, so make sure to look into all options before taking your vehicle to the mechanic.
