Description of service
I had noticed my car was overheating so I made an appointment at our local car dealer for them to take a look at it. After an hour wait, I was informed that my head gasket was blown and that my engine had overheated for such an extent that it had warped the heads on the motor. This I found odd as it had only overheated for maybe three days and never in the red zone, only 10-25 degrees warmer than normal. I asked how long it would take and they stated that it would take 1 day and that the cost was going to be 2500 dollars and some loose change. I was flabbergasted as the car only cost 10,000 new! But, it was cheaper than buying a new car, and this car gets great gas mileage too. So I decided to go ahead and have the service performed.
Review of Service
It was done quickly and efficiently, but still the cost was a little astronomical. I had replaced an engine the previous year on a 1989 Ford Bronco for the same price. But since it was work that needed to be done and would stave off the purchase of a new car for a few years, i went with it as it was cheaper than a car payment by a long shot.
Tips
Call around and see where you can get the job done for a lower cost. Review with friends. If I had reviewed with a friend on their mechanic, I would have saved myself in the neighborhood of 800 dollars.
