Description of service
I recently had to take my pickup in to have the rear ujoints replaced. I had started to notice when I would apply the brakes that you could hear a clunking noise and feel a vibration. I took it to a local repair shop that my employer uses and was very happy with the service. I paid $35 each for the ujoints, $60 for the labor, $2.50 for grease for the front joints, $5 for the disposal/hazard fees that the garage charges, and a couple bucks for the tax (which is 6%).
Review of Service
I was very happy with the service that I recieved. I had to drop my pickup off before they opened and the service manager called me when he got there (about 1/2 hour after I dropped it off) to let me know that they had my truck inside and were working on it. I had called him before I set up my appointment to get an aprox price of what it would take to get the ujoints replaced and to look over the truck. His price was about $5 below what he quoted me but was about $50 less than another shop that I called about the work. I can understand why my boss takes all of our work vehicles to him!
Tips
Make sure you call around to trusting mechanics to get some quotes before hand and if something doesn't seem right about make sure you ask them to explain it. Most good mechanics would have no problem explaining how they came up with that price.
