Description of service
Recently was diagnosed with congestive heart failure and needed to find a local cardiologist. As this is a small town, there is a limited number of specialist and most come from other cities. I finally found one who is associated with a well known hospital. I called to set up an appointment and was told the waiting time would be two weeks as the doctor only came to the town every three weeks. The initial visit would be $350 and I would have to file insurance for the first visit. After that if I continued seeing the doctor, their office would file. My initial visit would be to meed the doctor, have him look over my records which I was to bring. No tests were included in this visit. He would examine me.
Review of Service
The staff and the doctor were very courteous and professional. I didn't have to wait too long to see the doctor. My initial visit lasted about 25 minutes. In this time, the doctor spoke with and looked over my records which I had brought with me. He listened to my heart and lungs, checked my legs and my neck. I had already had many tests but he suggested more before seeing him again. Was the visit worth $350? I feel it was a bit too much but from my checking around that is the going price to see a specialist.
Tips
Always check with the American Medical Association and ask friends and relatives to refer you to one. When making an appointment, know the costs and what will be done.
